Become a Mentee

Anastasiia Prozor
My name is Anastasia Prozor. I am from south of Ukraine – town Dniprorudne. It is small, green, quiet, and very cozy. I graduated from Svitloch School with a gold medal, was the school president, and actively organized events as much as possible during the coronavirus pandemic. I have always loved mathematics, and when chemistry came along, I realized that it suited me too. The school gave me the opportunity to participate in Olympiads, which I did every year until graduation. In high school, I already knew that I wanted to study biomedical engineering, and just in time, a new department of translational medical bioengineering appeared at the Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute. How can you not believe that thoughts are material? In addition to the environment that encouraged me to develop as a scientist and be an inquisitive person, my personal history influenced my choice. I have congenital pathologies of the urinary system that cannot be cured. I spent most of my childhood in hospitals and rehabilitation centers, which taught me empathy and the importance of medicine. My personal problem with chronic kidney disease motivated me to explore nephrology more and pay attention to the problems of people like me. At university, I participated in scientific conferences every semester, published a scientific article together with my colleagues, became a laboratory assistant in a Canadian scientific laboratory during an internship, and attended numerous master classes from Ukrainian organisations: Biofarma, Arterium, Sinevo, Genomics UA and research institutes. I am grateful to everyone on my path who helped me gain expertise. My active position at the university was rewarded with a scholarship from the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine and a certificate from the Academic Council of the Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute.
